Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Rashidat Anjorin, has shared her painful battle with loneliness, revealing that she once suffered severe depression and contemplated taking her own life.

Contents
  • Importance of companionship
  • Gratitude to colleagues

Speaking during an appearance on the Talk to B podcast, the actress, popularly known as Indomie, said prolonged isolation pushed her into a dark emotional state and left her struggling to cope.

According to Anjorin, there was a period when she disappeared for three days because she was overwhelmed by depression and wanted to “end it all.”

“Being alone is a disease except for those who don’t know. I was so depressed that for three days I was missing and nowhere to be found. I wanted to end it all,” she said.

The actress explained that her desperate search for companionship even led her to approach a man romantically, something she had never done before.

“I made a move towards a man, something I had never done before. My shop is down there. I do hair and pedicures. I didn’t know what to say. I think the guy suspected that I wanted to have sex with him,” she added.

Importance of companionship

Reflecting on her experiences, the actress stressed that relationships and support systems are essential in life and should not be judged solely by financial benefits.

“When someone dies, it takes six people to carry the coffin. If those six people are in your life to support your progress, then you understand why companionship matters. Everything is not about money,” she said.

Anjorin also recounted some of the hardships she endured before finding stability, including an incident in which she was detained by police despite being the victim of theft.

“It was my money they stole, and it was me that was kept in the cell,” she recalled.

Gratitude to colleagues

The filmmaker expressed appreciation to several colleagues who supported her during difficult moments, particularly actress and producer Funke Akindele.

She revealed that Akindele gave her money to restart her business, enabling her to buy cooking equipment and begin selling noodles.

“Aunty Funke gave me money to go and buy those things. I went to Abeokuta to get my pots, and I started making sales. Once I start cooking the noodles, everyone will start buying,” she said.

Anjorin also thanked Taiwo Adebayo, Sodiq Adebayo and Blackman for their support, saying they played significant roles in helping her career and contributing to her success in the film industry.
