A tragic incident in Abia State has left a family in shock after a woman was allegedly killed by her son inside their home.
Abia State Police have arrested Livingston Nwakanma for allegedly killing his mother with a machete in Osaa Ukwu, Obingwa Local Government Area.
The arrest happened on September 19, 2026, after police received a distress call.
Officers arrived at the scene to find Mrs Nwaigbe Nwakanma, the suspect’s mother, lifeless.
A medical professional confirmed she was dead. Her body was taken to the morgue.
A mob was about to lynch the suspect when police arrived and rescued him.
He was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Livingston is now in police custody while investigation continues.
The suspect was reportedly experiencing mental health issues at the time.
His mother was preparing soup in her kitchen when the incident happened.
