A lawyer has come to the defence of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, following the backlash that trailed her recent advice encouraging Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses such as kuli-kuli, akara and roasted corn trading.

Reacting to the criticism, the lawyer argued that many people underestimate the profits that can come from petty trading, especially when supported with grants or small business loans.

According to him, “People underestimate the profits from petty trading with little capital supported by way of grants or loans. That’s why someone would think supporting kuli-kuli, akara and roasted corn business is ridiculous. Many of you need to come down from your high horses and face reality.”
