Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has equalled rival Cristiano Ronaldo’s record after scoring a hat-trick against Bolivia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Messi scored three times and provided two assists as his country calimed a 6-0 win.

It was the 37-year-old’s 10th international hat-trick, equalling Ronaldo’s record.

La Albiceleste are on course to qualify from South America, as they are currently three points above second-placed Colombia and six above arch-rivals Brazil.

On the same night, Ronaldo failed to score for Portugal, as they played out a 0-0 draw in Scotland in the UEFA Nations League.

Ronaldo was clearly frustarted after the game and could be seen throwing tantrums.
