Maverick singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticised Nigerian Christian clerics, claiming that 99 per cent of them are more interested in making profits from their churches than speaking truth to power.

Featuring in a recent episode of the KAA Truths podcast, the Area Fada crooner slammed some Nigerian pastors over their complicit silence in the face of the economic and security challenges confronting the nation.

He accused the clerics of working with corrupt politicians to exploit the masses.

Charly Boy emphasised that despite residing in Nigeria, he doesn’t think or behave like most Nigerians and would not fall for the sanctimonious antics of some Nigerian pastors.

“All the pastors I know of in Nigeria, 99 per cent of them are useless. It is just a business that they are running,” he claimed.

“I may live in Nigeria but Nigeria does not live in me. I don’t believe like you. I don’t want to think like you people. I’m not in the same class with you people. I come from a different space and time,” he added
