Nollywood actress Oma Nnadi has written a touching tribute to her colleague, Alex Ekubo, following his Service of Songs.
While sharing photos of herself and the actor over the years, she revealed that they had been close since 2014, and the deceased was more than a friend to her; he was like family, a confidant, a brother, and a constant source of wisdom.

She said from her very first cinema project, where he stood by her as the lead actor, to their countless conversations about life, he was always there. She recalled that the last time they spoke, he sounded just as he always did, strong, cheerful and full of hope.
According to her, this is why the loss feels unreal, as he always reassured her that he was okay. Oma said that, though her heart still refuses to accept it, she takes comfort in knowing that he has only left this world, but hasn’t left the hearts of those who loved him.
“Alex, it’s me, Chichi. I know you can read this. I still struggle to pen anything, as it still feels unreal.
Since 2014, you have been more than a friend; you have been family, a confidant, a brother, and a constant source of wisdom.
From my very first cinema project, where you stood by me as the lead actor, to countless conversations about life, faith, relationships, and purpose, you were always there.
The last time we spoke, you sounded just as you always did. Strong, cheerful, and full of hope. Even when the world speculated, our video calls reassured me that you were okay. That’s why this loss feels so not real.
Yesterday, after your procession, reality finally began to sink in. Though my heart still refuses to accept it fully, I take comfort in knowing that you have only left this earth; you have not left the hearts of those who loved you.
Thank you for your friendship, your advice, your prayers, your faith, and for always pointing me toward Christ.
I miss you deeply, my friend.
Rest well, Alex. Onye Nkem.
Nothing is really in this world
The way we came, the same way we all will go
If anyone told me I would lose Alex, I would not believe, it even in my dream.
Go well, onyem.
We shall meet to part no more”.
