The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recovered additional components from it’s ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The Air Force announced the development in a statement shared on its official X social media account on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 as search and recovery operations continue at the crash site.
According to the statement, specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) were working with its recovery team to retrieve materials from underwater and other difficult-to-reach areas. BuyMaps
NAF stated that the operation involves several technical methods, including hydrographic surveys, satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, excavation of mud and the removal of excess water to gain access to targeted location.
The service said the teams were conducting the exercise around the clock to recover materials that could be documented and preserved as part of the ongoing investigation into the crash.
“Additional aircraft components have been recovered as efforts continue to locate and retrieve relevant materials for documentation and preservation in support of the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.
The recovery exercise of the NAF crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft brings together personnel from the Air Force, Navy and NSIB, with specialist divers assisting in the underwater search while other teams work to access areas where relevant materials may be located.
