Nasarawa United have reacted to their players’ invitation to the national team ahead of the upcoming Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo in November, NEWSUNPLUG reports.
Goalkeeper Onu Olughu Chinemerem, defender Alfred Odinaka, attacking midfielder Umar Mohammed and winger Jofrank Joshua have all been called up to the team.
Nasarawa United Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, said the national recognition is proof of the hard work, discipline, professionalism and consistent performance exhibited by the club.
“It’s heartwarming as a Club to have your goalkeeper coach and four players given a national invitation, knowing the competitive nature of such an opportunity,” Babanjah stated in a chat with the club’s media.
“This underscores the technical quality embedded in our team, while the call-up of four players reaffirms our Club’s status as a hub for nurturing elite talents for the nation.
“As a club, we are immensely proud of this achievement, and we are confident that they will be worthy ambassadors of Nasarawa United and Nasarawa State at the National camp and ultimately justify the confidence reposed in them.
“We wish them a successful camping exercise and fruitful outings with the National Team colours.”
