El-Rufai was released on compassionate grounds to enable him to attend his mother’s burial.

Nasir El-Rufai, a former Kaduna State Governor, has returned to his residence in Abuja following his release from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

El-Rufai was released on compassionate grounds to enable him to attend his mother’s burial.

The former Kaduna governor lost his mother on Friday.

His mother was said to have been battling age-related health challenges, which worsened in recent times.

The aged woman’s condition reportedly deteriorated after she learned of her son’s detention by the ICPC.

Recall also that he was released from the custody of the ICPC on Friday night.

Meanwhile President Bola Tinubu has sent his condolences to El Rufai, on the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma.

Tinubu, in a statement released late on Friday night and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised the remarkable life she lived.

The former governor was accompanied by supporters as he stepped into his Abuja residence.
