National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, says he and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, offered Aisha Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she turned it down.

Dickson made this disclosure while speaking at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja.

This comes following recent internal political wranglings within the party regarding the conduct of its primary elections. The friction intensified after Yesufu, who had been running for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial ticket under the party, criticized Dickson’s leadership and accused the party of manipulating the primary process.

In a post on her verified X handle on Thursday, Yesufu stated that Dickson seemed to be in competition with Peter Obi and was “fighting a war no one is waging against him.”

Responding to the criticisms at the stakeholders’ venue, Dickson defended the party’s decisions and claimed that leadership had tried to accommodate her ambitions elsewhere.

“Now, talking about the FCT, do you know that Peter Obi and I offered Aisha Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she turned it down? House of Representatives that people are fighting for, she said she’s too big for it,” he said.
