In an attempt to settle the situation, the officers reportedly negotiated and paid him N1 million to repair the damages.

A Nigerian man has revealed how he was paid N1m to repair his car after it was crashed by a police officer.

Temi Tope Samson stated that the N1 million was paid to him on the spot after an officer crashed his car during a controversial highway arrest in Ogun State.

Explaining what happened, Samson said he was travelling from Lagos to Ondo State, when he was stopped at a checkpoint in Ogun and accused of failing to stop for their superior at an earlier checkpoint.

He explained that he unknowingly passed the previous checkpoint due to early morning fog.

However, the officers weren’t impressed and demanded a fine of N500,000 or threatened to take him to their station.

While en route to the station, an officer who took control of his vehicle crashed it in an accident.

In an attempt to settle the situation, the officers reportedly negotiated and paid him N1 million to repair the damages.
