Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, founder of David’s Christian Centre and popular relationship coach, has sparked mixed reactions online following the launch of his faith-based matchmaking platform, “Mentor To Marry,” which offers membership packages ranging from N70,000 to N700,000 annually.

According to information shared by the pastor, the platform is designed to connect Christian singles seeking intentional, marriage-focused relationships through mentoring, assessments and guided matchmaking.

However, the pricing structure has generated widespread debate on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the cost of accessing a platform aimed at helping singles find life partners.

Reacting on X, @gatsegwasiPhD wrote: “Don’t you see how you are contradicting yourself? You say relationships are commercialised and men who don’t have money should still pay M700,000 to meet ‘godly’ women? So tell me, who has such an amount if not rich men?”

Another user, @DaraMoren1, criticised the pricing model, writing: “Relationships have been so commercialised nowadays, yet you went ahead to commercialise it. Mentor To Marry price list has Reg, Premium & VIP.”

Similarly, @ndilichi1261151 questioned the value of the highest package, saying: “Do you know what that N700K will do for me in the Gen Z dating scene rather than put it in your link?”

On Facebook, King Phill also expressed concern over what he described as a contradiction in the pastor’s message.

He wrote: “If relationships have become increasingly commercialised, then why is he also commercialising it?”

Another commenter, Comfort Bassey Bee, said: “Spoke about how relationships have become increasingly commercialised.’ Is that why you’re also commercialising the situation? It is well.”

Despite the criticism, some Nigerians defended the initiative, arguing that professional matchmaking and relationship coaching services are not new and that individuals should be free to pay for services they find valuable.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Neo weighed in on the conversation, saying, “The man did nothing wrong. Since Nigerian men and women cannot choose right to save their own lives, maybe paying for counselling will unlock common sense.”

Others also argued that the platform appears to offer more than matchmaking, noting that participants are expected to undergo mentorship and assessment processes before being matched with potential partners.

The debate has continued across social media platforms, with opinions sharply divided between those who see the initiative as a practical solution to modern dating challenges and those who believe the cost places financial barrier between marriage opportunities.
