Popular nightlife influencer Idowu Adeyemi, widely known as Yhemolee, has shared his opinion on the viral online feud involving Grammy-winning artiste Ibrahim “Wizkid” Balogun and Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, holding Seun responsible for how the situation escalated.

The controversy erupted after Wizkid’s fanbase, known as Wizkid FC, began drawing comparisons between the singer and the late Fela a recurring issue that Seun has openly condemned over the years. In response, Seun took to social media to caution fans against involving his father’s legacy in fan wars.

The exchange took a dramatic turn when Wizkid responded with a sharp insult, calling Seun “a fool at 40.” Seun quickly fired back, claiming Wizkid was benefiting from Fela’s legacy to provide for his family, further intensifying the online debate.

As the clash dominated social media conversations, Yhemolee weighed in through a lengthy Snapchat post, where he squarely blamed Seun for provoking the backlash. He argued that many of the Wizkid fans Seun was attacking were young people who had little to no knowledge of Fela or his music.

According to Yhemolee, Wizkid is regarded as the “G.O.A.T” by his fans because they grew up listening to his music from Holla at Your Boy to his recent hits. He added that even some older Nigerians only know Fela through history lessons or limited exposure, pointing out that many struggle to name more than one of Fela’s songs but can easily sing numerous Wizkid tracks from beginning to end.

Yhemolee also criticised Seun for constantly addressing online trolls on camera, stating that the younger generation has little regard for anyone’s parents and that engaging them publicly only brought unnecessary embarrassment to the Kuti family. He claimed this was the first time he had seen Fela’s name so openly disrespected online and blamed Seun for drawing attention to it.

In his words:

“No be only you be Fela piken!! Only you won face FC? How? Wetin you chop?? Rage baited wiz till e burst out!! And everybody know sey the man mouth worst! Fela died 29yrs ago!! Who dem born that same year self would be 30yrs next year. But you are fighting teenagers and Gen Z’s that know absolutely nothing about him.. Make it make sense.”

Yhemolee concluded by advising Seun to step away from the online drama, urging him to focus on his music and ignore Wizkid FC entirely.
