Hansi Flick has officially signed a new contract with Barcelona, extending his stay at the club until 2028 after another successful season in charge.
The German coach agreed a one-year extension following Barcelona’s La Liga triumph and Spanish Super Cup success during the campaign.
The announcement comes after Barcelona’s final home game of the season against Real Betis.
Flick rewarded after strong domestic success
Barcelona highlighted Flick’s impact both on and off the pitch during his time at Camp Nou.
Under the former Bayern Munich manager, the club secured five of the six available domestic trophies across two seasons.
Barcelona also pointed to his commitment to youth development, noting that 13 academy players from La Masia had made their debuts during his tenure.
Champions League disappointment fails to overshadow progress
Despite falling short in Europe during consecutive campaigns, Barcelona’s hierarchy remain convinced Flick is the right man to lead the club forward.
The Catalans were eliminated by Inter Milan in one Champions League semi-final before another exit against Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.
However, Flick’s record in domestic competition, including six wins from seven Clasicos against Real Madrid, strengthened his standing internally.
Flick explains decision behind extension
Speaking before officially signing the deal, Flick said stability and mutual trust influenced his decision to continue at Barcelona.
The 61-year-old explained that both he and the club preferred a shorter long-term structure, with an option to reassess beyond 2028 depending on progress and circumstances.
