The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed widespread reports alleging that one of the schoolchildren recently abducted from Ahoro-Esiele in the Oriire Local Government Area has died in captivity.

In a statement released on Friday, Command Spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka categorically declared the viral reports as “false, misleading, mischievous, and entirely without factual basis.”

According to the police, neither the Oyo State Command nor any other recognized security agency involved in the ongoing rescue mission has recorded or confirmed such a development. The command stated that the false report was a calculated fabrication intended to provoke public anxiety and undermine active security operations.

‘’The publication is a fabrication carefully crafted by individuals whose objective is to arouse unnecessary public sentiment, create panic, spread fear, and undermine ongoing security operations.”

The command assured the public, particularly the families of the victims, that joint security agencies are maintaining active, highly confidential, and professional operations to ensure the safe rescue of all abductees.

The police strongly cautioned bloggers, social media influencers, online content creators, and mainstream media platforms against publishing or amplifying unverified security information. The statement emphasized that the indiscriminate sharing of false security reports is irresponsible and capable of inciting fear and public disorder
