A Baptist Church pastor and nine others were k!lled by gunmen in different communities in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It was gathered that the suspected assailants attacked passengers travelling to Gana-Ropp in Barkin-Ladi, on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, killing six and injuring others in the vehicle.
A resident of the community, who witnessed the incident, Ukasha Garba, claimed that the six persons k!lled were passengers from Gana-Ropp, traveling to the next community to work in a farm.
It was further learnt that in the early hours of Sunday, September 20, a pastor from Baptist Church, his secretary, and one other person were ambushed and shot d3ad on their way to church at Dorowa Babuje, in the same council area.
The development disrupted church services in neighbouring communities, as people abandoned services over fear of further attacks.
Also, a woman, on Saturday night, was reportedly k!lled at Beaten Wereng in Riyom Local Government Area, while another person was k!lled at Ratyidiin Fan District.
The National publicity secretary of Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the attacks, who also described the incidents as worrisome and unacceptable.
“We condemn these attacks in the strongest terms and call on security agencies to urgently strengthen their presence in the affected communities. The k!lling of innocent people must stop,” he said.
He lamented that the fresh attacks have further heightened fear among residents, stressing that communities should not continue to lose their people to violence.
He called for prompt investigation into the incidents, the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
Tengwong further urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, while appealing to security agencies to take proactive measures to prevent further attacks and protect lives and property in the affected communities.
Meanwhile, tension still pervades some parts of Barkin-Ladi Local Government over the k!llings, as residents fled from the area following renewed gunshots reportedly heard from the direction of Kantoma.
