A pastor’s wife identified as Mrs Unyime Bassey, has been accused of brutalising her brother’s daughter in Calabar, Cross River State.

The child named Edidiong, who is said to be under seven years old, allegedly runs errands and takes care of Mrs Bassey’s youngest child, Blessing.

Facebook user, Ukoeebi Esien, who disclosed this in a post on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, said the incident occurred in the Atimbo area of Calabar.

She alleged that neighbours say the girl is frequently punished and beaten severely for minor mistakes, with them describing this recent beating as “mild” compared to previous incidents.

She further claimed that the latest incident reportedly occurred because Edidiong allegedly took meat from the family pot of soup.

Sje said the matter has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force, Airport Division, Calabar.
