The declaration was made during a clip from his nationwide tour, sparking debate among followers some questioning his decision, while others await an official statement from the palace.

A companion who appeared with Peller on the livestream revealed that the influencer had suggested sending his management team in his place. Peller, however, declined, saying he did not want any member of his team to risk being “held hostage.”

The situation stems from Peller’s unauthorised entry into the palace on March 6, 2026, an act the Benin Traditional Council (BTC) described as a serious violation of protocol and a desecration of the palace’s sacred grounds.

In an official statement signed by BTC Secretary Frank Irabor, the council said disciplinary action has been taken against palace staff and chiefs who were involved in facilitating the incident.

One chief implicated in the breach has been suspended indefinitely, while palace staff member Mr Omuemu has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force and charged in court for causing a public disturbance.

The council also noted that the queen connected to the incident is undergoing disciplinary proceedings, which could result in her removal in accordance with Benin traditions.

Peller was summoned to appear before a committee of chiefs to give his account but reportedly did not attend. The BTC reiterated that he must appear in person and submit a written apology for the embarrassment caused by his unapproved visit, warning that legal consequences may follow if he refuses.

The council concluded by reaffirming that the palace is a revered institution steeped in centuries-old traditions, and it remains committed to upholding the dignity and sanctity of the Oba of Benin and the palace.
