A social commentator identified as CDO has claimed that Peter Okoye’s marriage to Lola Omotayo played a significant role in helping P-Square gain wider acceptance within Lagos’ social circles.
According to CDO, the music duo, made up of Peter and his twin brother Paul Okoye, struggled to establish themselves within certain elite social circles in Lagos because of their strong Igbo identity and background.
CDO argued that Peter’s relationship and eventual marriage to Lola, who was already connected to prominent Lagos social circles, helped bridge that gap and gave the duo greater access to a different social network.
“Peter marrying Lola helped their career. P-Square couldn’t fit into Lagos social circles because they were very Igbotic, but Peter’s marriage to Lola leveled them,” CDO said.
