The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspects over alleged attempted m8rder, malicious damage and cult related activities in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesman for the command, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, March 20, 2026.

According to the PPRO, the arrests followed a petition and intelligence led operation carried out by detectives on 20 March at Ikot Asukpong village.

The suspects, identified as John Samson, Emmanuel Asuquo, Idorenyin Umoh, and Okon Akpan, were apprehended during the operation.

A locally fabricated pistol and two long guns were recovered, which investigators say supports allegations of involvement in violent crimes.

“Following the approval of a petition bordering on alleged attempted m8rder, malicious damage, and cult-related activities, operatives of the Command swung into action with precision and professionalism.

“The Command wishes to assure members of the public that the situation in the area remains calm and under control, as proactive measures have been put in place to forestall any breach of peace.

“Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of discreet investigations.
