The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected bandit informant, Usman Isah and recovered criminal charms.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
According to Aliyu, the suspect was arrested after he made phone calls to a resident, threatening to k!ll him unless he paid the sum of N10m.
“The Katsina State Police Command under the leadership of CP Ali Umar Fage, psc (+), mnips, has succeeded in arresting a 28-year-old suspected informant to bandits and recovered criminal charms,” the statement read.
“The fact of the case is that, on April 9th, 2026, at about 11:40am, one Abdullahi Abdullahi (real name withheld), m, reported at Musawa Division that on April 6th, 2026, at about 4:00pm, he received threatening phone calls from unknown numbers.
“The callers threatened to k!ll him unless he paid the sum of ten million naira, N10,000,000, placing him in fear for his life.
“Upon receipt of the report, detective swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspect Usman Isah, in connection with the crime and recovered criminal charms used to aid his illicit activities.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence, further stating that he conspired with his brother (name withheld), now at large, to commit the offence.
“The suspect further confessed to previous involvement in similar criminal activities some years ago.
“Efforts are ongoing to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects. The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, psc(+), mnips, has directed intensified efforts to track and arrest the fleeing suspect.
“He warns that the Command will not relent in its onslaught against informants, collaborators, and all persons aiding banditry and other forms of crimes and criminality in the state.
