The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects over alleged defilement and natural offence against minors aged between 4 and 17 across the state.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, November 6, 2026.

According to the PPRO, the suspects, aged between 18 and 44, were arrested in connection with the reported sexual assaults involving four girls and a 13-year-old boy.

“Behind every report received at our Divisions is a child, a family, and a community left shaken. A little girl who should be in school. A young boy who should feel safe at home. A teenage girl who went out to tend her family’s cattle and returned with trauma no child should carry,” the statement read.

“The Bauchi State Police Command shares in the pain of these families, and we are acting to ensure that those who prey on our children do not go unpunished.

“Following prompt reports by concerned parents and community members, the Command has arrested five suspects in connection with separate cases of alleged sexual assault against minors across the State.

“1. DEFILEMENT IN YANA:

On 2nd, November, 2026, a father came forward to report that his 8-year-old daughter had allegedly been sexually assaulted two days earlier at Disina Village, Yana Local Government Area. Our operatives immediately visited the scene, ensured the child received medical attention at General Hospital, Yana, and arrested one Shawilu Liman, 44 years.

“DEFILEMENT IN TUDUN GAMBO:
On 20th October, 2026, a report was received that a 4-year-old girl had allegedly been lured and sexually assaulted at Tudun Gambo, Alkaleri Local Government Area. The child was taken to Tudun Gambo Health Care Centre for medical examination and care, while one
Zakariya Auwal, 18 years old, was arrested.

“DEFILEMENT IN MISAU:

On 4th November, 2026, a family reported that their 6-year-old daughter had allegedly been lured to a farm and sexually assaulted at Gwaram Village, Misau LGA. The victim was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Misau, for medical examination, and one Idris Sani, 19 years old, was arrested.

“UNNATURAL OFFENCE IN GADAU:
On 5th November, 2026, a father reported that his 13-year-old son had allegedly been lured into a room and sexually assaulted through unnatural means at Atawari Village, Gadau District. The boy was taken to General Hospital, Azare, for medical examination, and one Mansur Sha’aibu, 40 years old, of Gaya LGA, Kano State, was arrested.

“RAPE IN GUMAU: On 3rd, November, 2026, a father reported that his 17-year-old daughter had allegedly been raped in the bush at Dangara Village, Toro Local Government Area, while she was rearing cows. One Michael Soja, 25 years old, of Dangara Village, was arrested. Both the suspect and the victim were taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination.

“All five suspects are in Police custody. Investigations are ongoing, and they will be charged to court upon completion.

“Beyond arrest, the Command is committed to the welfare of the victims. They have received medical attention, and we are working with relevant stakeholders to ensure they get the psychosocial support and protection they need to heal.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged acts in the strongest terms.

He describes them as wicked, inhuman and a betrayal of the trust our children place in adults around them.

“No child deserves to live in fear. No parent should be afraid to let their child play, go to school, or help at home. We will not look away. We will pursue every case, protect every victim, and ensure that perpetrators face the full wrath of the law,” he said.

The CP appeals to parents, guardians, teachers, religious and community leaders to watch over our children, listen to them when they speak, believe them when they report abuse, and report any suspicious person or behaviour immediately to the nearest Police station. Early reporting saves lives and preserves evidence.

He further assures the people of Bauchi State that the Command maintains zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, especially against children, and will continue to work with communities to make every home, school and village safe for our children.
