The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly k!lling his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, following a violent altercation in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on 4th June, 2026.

According to the statement, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a dispute on May 28, 2026, which degenerated into a physical assault.

During the attack, the deceased reportedly sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.

However, he was later confirmed d3ad by the attending doctor despite efforts to save his life.

The police said the incident was reported by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, prompting detectives to commence an investigation which led to the arrest of Nsikak Kingsley.

“In furtherance of the vision and strategic policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc+, NPM, geared towards strengthening community safety, promoting intelligence-led policing and safeguarding lives and property, the Ondo State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, has arrested a 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley for his alleged involvement in the d3ath of his biological father, Adone Peter, aged 65 years,” the statement read.

“The tragic incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State and has generated widespread concern among residents of the area.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on 28th May, 2026, the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation which escalated into a physical assault.

“During the confrontation, the deceased reportedly sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head.

“He was immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention. Sadly, despite efforts by medical personnel, the attending doctor confirmed him d3ad while receiving treatment.

“Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by one Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, detectives promptly commenced investigation into the matter.

“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.

“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough, discreet and comprehensive investigation.

“The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

“Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, strongly condemned the act, describing it as unfortunate, reprehensible and contrary to societal values.

“He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that any person found culpable of criminal offences is made to face the full weight of the law.

“The Commissioner further urged members of the public to shun violence in all its forms and embrace peaceful and lawful means of resolving disputes, irrespective of the circumstances.

“He emphasized that disagreements, whether within families or communities, should never degenerate into acts of violence capable of resulting in injury or loss of life.

“The Command also encourages residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security conscious, while promptly reporting suspicious activities, threats to public safety, or criminal acts to the nearest police station or other appropriate security agencies.”
