A car owner in Kano has finally got his vehicle back after it mysteriously disappeared while he was attending church service.

Police in Kano State have recovered a golden Hyundai that was st0len from a church and handed it back to its owner.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, shared the news in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the car with registration number AA 444 BL was taken on October 25, 2026.

Its owner, Uchenna Emmanuel, had parked it at St. Thomas Church on Airport Road in Kano around 11 a.m. and went inside for a service.

When he came out, the car was gone.

He reported the matter to the police at about 3:30 p.m. the same day.

Operatives of the Special Intervention Squad, SIS, then started a tracking operation.

On October 26, the car was spotted inside the premises of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH, where unknown people had left it.

Police set up an ambush to catch whoever parked it there, but no one came back for the car.

The vehicle was recovered on October 28 and taken to the SIS office for investigation.

It was later handed over to Emmanuel.

Emmanuel thanked the police for their quick action and professional work.

He also urged drivers to be careful when parking in public places, especially churches, markets and hospitals.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, advised vehicle owners to fit security devices such as trackers and steering or pedal locks, and to make sure their cars are always locked up properly.

The command said efforts to arrest the suspects who fled are ongoing and the investigation is still continuing.
