“People often wondered how someone who regularly challenges authority could have such a connection with a former president,” he said. “Life isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes respect and understanding can create bonds where least expected.”
Charly Boy noted that Obasanjo appreciated traits in him that are often overlooked by others courage, consistency, and an unwavering dedication to truth. Likewise, Charly Boy sees Obasanjo not only as a former leader but as an elder who has endured wars, leadership pressures, and national challenges with remarkable resilience.

A highlight of their relationship came when Obasanjo personally hosted the launch of Charly Boy’s autobiography, 999. Reflecting on the occasion, the entertainer described it as the most important moment of his career, far beyond a simple book release. “It wasn’t about selling books,” he said. “It was about recognition an elder acknowledging me and saying, ‘I see you.’”
