Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has claimed that departing Reds winger Mohamed Salah has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s Premier League legacy.
Writing in his column for The Telegraph following Salah’s announcement that he will depart Anfield at the end of the season, Carragher argued that only Arsenal legend Thierry Henry ranks ahead of the Egyptian among the league’s all-time great overseas attackers.
“In the pantheon of overseas attacking players to have excelled in England, only Thierry Henry eclipses Salah,” Carragher wrote
He also dismissed comparisons with Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp, and Eric Cantona, insisting none matched Salah’s sustained dominance.
“Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United, both initially and upon his return, was either side of his absolute, Real Madrid-peak years,” Carragher noted. “Salah edges ahead of him when judging strictly on Premier League performance and impact.”
Since his £34m move from Roma to Liverpool in 2017, Salah has amassed 189 goals and 92 assists—more than any other player in the competition over that period.
