Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has addressed the backlash she received for covering her daughter’s face at a party.
Newsunplug reported that at Rakeem’s party, Aisha came under fire over a video of her covering her daughter’s face as she made her entrance to the venue. A woman recording the video mentioned the actress’ daughter’s name and school, which didn’t sit well with Aisha, who immediately covered her daughter’s face with the hat she was wearing.
Speaking out in an interview with Morayo Afolabi Brown, Aisha said she deliberately covered her face because her daughter is the product of her first pregnancy. She shared that she became pregnant with her and her twin brother, who later died, in her 30s.
Aisha said she knows what she went through before having her daughter and doesn’t want Zara on the internet at all, especially because of trolls.
Speaking on why she keeps her partner hidden, the Yoruba actress said she discovered that whatever is covered or concealed is treated with honour and respect.
“Yes, I deliberately covered my daughter’s face at Rakeem’s birthday party because she is the product of my first pregnancy. I became pregnant with them when I was in my 30s, and did you know she had a twin brother who later left?
I want you all to understand what I went through before having her. I don’t want my daughter Zara to be on the internet at all because I’m not comfortable with the way some people bully children. I don’t care about the backlash online.
I also deliberately kept my partner and the father of my children away from the public space because I discovered that whatever is covered or concealed is treated with honour and respect.”
