Superstar singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has become the subject of discussion online following an attack by unknown gunmen in Osogbo, Osun State.
Newsunplug reported earlier in the day that Davido, his sister Folashade Adeleke, and his cousins Nikos and B-Red were in Osogbo to collect the certificate of Governor Ademola Adeleke following his re-election.
According to reports, the governor and his entourage were attacked during his visit to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo shortly after receiving his certificate of return from INEC.
Reports claim that the Governor’s security personnel engaged with the unknown gunmen. It is believed that Davido and the governor’s children were in the convoy when the attack occurred.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said preliminary investigations revealed that members of a confraternity, Eye, were after the singer.
Ojelabi said a 60-year-old man identified as Tajudeen Yusuf was shot dead during the gun duel.
The command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident and intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
