Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has come to the defence of comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, following the backlash he received after failing to attend his scheduled comedy show in Cardiff, United Kingdom.
AY, who is currently on an international comedy tour, reportedly disappointed fans after he was unable to appear at the Cardiff event, sparking reactions from members of the audience and widespread discussions on social media.
Reacting to the controversy, Etinosa criticised the negative attention surrounding the incident, arguing that the comedian had successfully performed at other venues during his tour without receiving similar publicity.
According to the actress, AY had been entertaining his UK fans at different locations before circumstances beyond his control prevented him from attending the Cardiff show.
She also took a swipe at blogs for quickly reporting the controversy while allegedly overlooking the comedian’s successful performances.
Etinosa further described the reactions from disappointed fans as excessive, suggesting that many people were eager to criticise the entertainer rather than understand what had happened.
In a lengthy post, she wrote:
“AY has been showing up to every venue on his comedy tour and spreading joy to his UK fans, but no blog posted it.
But tonight, for reasons beyond his control, he could not show up in Cardiff.
Watch the internet go up in a frenzy.
Narratives and accusations flying everywhere.
Blogs are suddenly posting his show for free because it’s Hot News.
Their bitter audience will gather like frustrated witches to cast aspersions and project their souls in the name of judgment.
May God heal us all.
So sad that good news is no news.
Nobody posted his successful shows.
Nobody even cared to find out what’s happening since AY isn’t a kid or an unprofessional. Everyone is waiting for bad news so they can rush, post, and have hot takes same thing with Eric Gugua’s show.
God forbid.
May God grant bros AY grace.
Regards”.
The actress concluded by praying for God’s grace for the comedian, expressing disappointment over what she described as the tendency to ignore positive achievements while giving widespread attention to negative incidents.
