Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has lamented the difficulty of finding someone willing to work as his personal servant, claiming that many young men are more interested in making quick money.
In a video, the rapper said he had been struggling to find someone willing to live in his compound and attend to his domestic needs, despite offering a monthly salary of ₦100,000.
He expressed frustration over what he described as the growing reluctance among young men to take up service roles, citing similar difficulties reportedly faced by auto-parts dealers in finding apprentices willing to remain in their shops.
Speed Darlington, however, clarified that he was not looking for someone to work in a shop but rather a live-in domestic worker whom he would pay and provide with food.
“Nna ehh, I don pass this level. I can’t find any boy wey wan serve me. I don’t know why it’s so hard to find somebody. My whole side is full of prideful boys who are looking for how to pack plenty money. Overnight riches. I’ve been dropping music for years before you knew me. Mine was not overnight riches.”
He added that he would provide the prospective worker with a ₦100,000 monthly salary and food once a day, while noting that the work would not be particularly demanding because he already had a washing machine.
“I’m not looking for someone who will stay in a shop. I’m looking for someone who will stay in my compound and be serving me.”
