Owen Oseni has said he was in “disbelief” after earning his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles, NEWSUNPLUG reports.
The Plymouth Argyle striker is in Nigeria’s squad for the Unity Cup invitational tournament.
Oseni will also link up with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi for the first time when the Super Eagles take on Poland and Portugal in friendlies in June.
The 23-year-old was born in the Republic of Ireland to a Nigerian father, and an Ivorian mother.
The forward is eligible to play for the three countries, and has now opted to represent Nigeria.
Oseni said getting the chance to play for the three-time African champions is a big deal for him.
“I know I had an alright season, but to get called up for a country where there’s more than 240 million people and probably 50% want to play for their country was quite a big deal for me so I was really buzzing,” Oseni told BBC Sport.
The former St Mirren star is expected to link up with the Super Eagles this weekend for the Unity Cup.
