Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, for unlawful possession of human parts and suspected ritual activities in Igbesa

The suspect was arrested on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Spokesperson for the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday said the suspect was arrested during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi

According to him, the suspect was intercepted in possession of a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains concealed in a nylon bag.

The PPRO said preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes.

“The arrest was made in the early hours of April 17, 2026, during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi, where the suspect was intercepted in possession of a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains concealed in a nylon bag,” he said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes.

“The implement used in committing the act was recovered, while the scene was visited and documented.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”

Babaseyi assured the public of the command’s “unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements”, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
