Suspected robber arrested for stealing two TVs from Bayelsa church

The Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit has apprehended and paraded one a suspect, Frank Ekewei in connection with a robbery incident at Glorified Ambassadors For Christ Assembly, located along NIT Road, Etegwe, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 23rd May 2026.

Following a distress call from a concerned citizen regarding the incident, operatives of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit swiftly activated the agency’s detective unit and immediately commenced investigation into the matter.

At about 11:00 a.m. on the same day, the suspect, Mr. Frank Ekewei, a 20-year-old indigene of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, residing along Deeper Life Road, Okutukutu, Yenagoa, was intercepted and arrested along the Etegwe Roundabout axis of Melford Okilo Road, Yenagoa, with the stolen items in his possession.

The suspect was subsequently brought to the operational headquarters of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit for interrogation and questioning.

During interrogation conducted by the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit, Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo, the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed how he was allegedly lured into the robbery gang by one Mr. Miracle, said to be from Benin, Edo State, who is currently at large.

Mr. Frank Ekewei further pledged to cooperate with security operatives by providing useful information that would assist in the arrest of the fleeing suspect.

According to the Overseer of the church, Bishop Patterson Kikile, the two suspects reportedly arrived at the church premises around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, broke through the church’s back door, and carted away the following items: 32-inch Hisense Television and 50-inch Hisense Television.

In line with the operational procedures and ethical standards of the agency, the suspect alongside the recovered items has been handed over to Operation Doo Akpo for further investigation and possible prosecution.
