A man suspected of being involved in vehicle hijackings was reportedly assaulted by members of the public after he was allegedly caught before carrying out a planned hijacking.

The incident is said to have happened along Winnie Mandela Drive towards Diepsloot in South Africa on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

According to reports, community members confronted the man after accusing him of attempting to hijack a vehicle, which led to the situation escalating.

Authorities continue to urge residents not to take the law into their own hands and instead report suspected criminal activity to the police so that it can be handled through the proper legal process.
