Popular Nigerian comedian and activist, Debo Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, has shared a chilling account of his experience in police custody during the 2020 #EndSARS protests.
The content creator revealed that his celebrity status made him a primary target for physical abuse by security agents, but he also noted that his presence likely served as a protective shield for other detainees.
Detailing the severity of the situation, Mr Macaroni claimed that while he bore the brunt of the violence, the officers involved were explicitly constrained by his fame.
“When I was arrested during the 2020 #EndSARS protests I was beaten the most because I am a celebrity but I know they cannot k!!ll me,” he stated.
He further recounted the horrifying admission made by his captors, adding, “The officers beating me said to my face that if I wasn’t there, they would have unalive all the people.”
