Three suspects have been arraigned before the Ejioku Magistrate Court in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State for allegedly assaulting officials of the Oyo State Fire Service while they were on duty.

The defendants were subsequently remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending further proceedings. The incident reportedly occurred at Atari-Agbon in the Oki area of Olodo, Lagelu Local Government Area, where members of the fire service had responded to a fire outbreak. According to authorities, hoodlums allegedly attacked the officers while attempting to loot valuables at the scene.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed that one of the officers sustained injuries during the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Providing an update on Tuesday, February 17, Akinwande said the three suspects were arraigned on charges of assault, conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

“Three people were arraigned at Ejioku Magistrate’s court at the early hours of today (Tuesday) for assault of fire officers at Oki. They were also charged for conspiracy and conduct likely to breach public peace. Three were arranged while others are at large. They are currently remanded at Agodi prison. The case is adjourned till March 12, 2026.”

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who remain at large.
