President Bola Ahmed TinubuĀ on Tuesday, March 17, arrived in the United Kingdom for a two-day historic State Visit.

The President was accompanied by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. They landed at London Stansted Airport at exactly 3:18 pm local time.

On arrival, President Tinubu was received on behalf of the British Royal Family by the Deputy Lieutenant of Essex, Mark Bevan.

A delegation of Nigerian political leaders, including senators, governors and ministers, were also on hand to receive the President at his hotel. This sparked reactions from Nigerians who questioned why Nigerian leaders had to travel to the UK to welcome the President.

As part of the programme, President Tinubu and the First Lady will be hosted at Windsor Castle from Wednesday, March 18 to Thursday, March 19.

The visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation across critical sectors, including trade, investment, and economic partnerships, as Nigeria seeks to attract increased foreign direct investment to support ongoing reforms under the administration.

Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the visit would also provide an opportunity to explore new areas of collaboration and create pathways for enhanced business engagement between entrepreneurs from both countries.
