Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has issued a strong warning to traders over the Monday sit-at-home order, stressing that businesses that remain closed could face severe penalties from the state government.

The governor stated that any shop shut on a Monday in compliance with the sit-at-home directive may be sealed by authorities, and owners would be required to pay a hefty fine before reopening. He also warned that traders who attempt to reopen sealed shops without approval would face an additional sanction.

Speaking on the matter, Soludo said:

“Any trader who refuses to open their shop on

The governor emphasized that his administration is committed to putting an end to the Monday sit-at-home practice in the state. He encouraged residents to carry on with their daily activities and lawful businesses without intimidation or fear.

The Monday sit-at-home exercise was introduced by leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra as a form of peaceful protest and solidarity with its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Soludo’s latest comments have generated widespread reactions online, with many residents and traders sharing mixed opinions over the government’s strict approach to enforcing business operations on Mondays.
