Bayer Leverkusen have stepped up  their interest in Rangers defender, Emmanuel Fernandez, NEWSUNPLUG reports.

According to TEAMtalk, the Bundesliga club are desperate to add the Nigeria international to their squad this summer.

They former German champions have made fresh contacts  with Rangers to seal the deal as they are aware of other interests in Fernandez.

Leverkusen’s Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund have also been monitoring the centre-back.

Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham United, and Everton have also been linked with Fernandez.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a remarkable campaign with Rangers following his arrival from League One club Peterborough United last summer.

The Nigeria international was named Rangers’ Player of the Season, and was also included in the PFA Team of the Season.

He is valued around €25m by the Scottish Premiership giants.
