Turkey: ‘He’ll Not Want To Join Us’ – Fenerbahçe Plot To Stop Osimhen Next Season

Mahmut Uslu, a proposed board member for Fenerbahçe presidential candidate, Aziz Yıldırım, has acknowledged that any club would be keen on acquiring Victor Osimhen.

However, he believes that the Nigerian striker is unlikely to join the Yellow Canaries.

Osimhen had an exceptional season with Galatasaray, playing a pivotal role in the club’s Süper Lig victory and further solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most coveted strikers.

The former African Footballer of the Year returned for a second tenure with the Lions last summer after Galatasaray triggered his €75 million release clause.

This transfer was historic, as the former Napoli striker became the most expensive player ever acquired by a Turkish club.

In discussing Galatasaray’s star forward, Uslu referred to Osimhen as one of the most impactful players in Turkish football and emphasized the necessity for Fenerbahçe to assemble a team capable of competing against him.

He stated to HT Spor, as reported by Kıbrıs: “We will construct a squad that can counter a team featuring Osimhen. If we make Kadıköy invincible, we will be champions.”

When queried about which Galatasaray player he would prefer Fenerbahçe to sign, Uslu mentioned Osimhen but dismissed the likelihood of a transfer occurring between the Istanbul rivals.

“Who wouldn’t desire a player like Osimhen? However, he will not be joining us. His future destinations are evident.”

Osimhen has recently been associated with clubs such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal, despite being under contract with Galatasaray until June 2029.

He has scored 59 goals and 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish champions.
