Atletico Madrid star, Ademola Lookman, has insisted that Diego Simeone’s side are ready to take on another “strong team” in the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian international spoke to reporters at his post-match interview after Atletico Madrid eliminated Barcelona from the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Lookman scored as Barcelona defeated Atletico 2-1, but the Los Rojiblancos progressed to the Champions League last-4 on a 3-2 aggregate win because they won the first leg 2-0 at Camp Nou.
Atletico will now face Arsenal or Sporting CP in the semi-final later this month.
Recall that Arsenal holds a 1-0 advantage against Sporting from the Champions League quarter-final first leg played last week.
The Gunners will take on the Portuguese side in the return leg on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium.
Asked about the possibility of Atletico facing Arsenal in the semi-final, Lookman said, “Another strong team, another top team.
“When you are in the semi-finals of the Champions League, whoever you get will be tough. It’s a big occasion and one we’re really looking forward to.”
