Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has revealed that his team needs to improve defensively after beating Benfica 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

According to Maresca, the Blues have conceded three goals in their last three games, which is something they need to prevent going forward.

Recall that Richard Rios’ own-goal gave the Premier League west London club the win against Benfica at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after the game, Maresca said in his post-match interview: “The effort was very good.

“First half, I think we were better compared to the second half in the way we managed the ball and created chances.

“Second half, we dropped. In the last two, three games, we have conceded two, three goals, and it’s not possible to do that. We need to be better defensively, but a clean sheet is nice.”

Chelsea will now face Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend in their next game.
