American singer and actress, Selena Gomez has warned fans against nicotine vaping after revealing that the habit has changed her voice and that quitting has been difficult.
The 34-year-old made the disclosure in a video shared on her Instagram Story on Sunday, October 18, 2026, where she opened up about her experience with nicotine and urged people to avoid taking up the habit.
Gomez admitted that she had vaped nicotine extensively and expressed concern about the lasting changes to her voice.
The singer also acknowledged that some listeners might no longer enjoy her voice, saying she would understand if they decided to stop listening to her music.
Selena Gomez opens up about quitting nicotine
Gomez said, “Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it, or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it.”
She further explained that she was determined to stop vaping, although she recognised that overcoming nicotine dependence would not be easy.
The revelation follows questions about changes to her voice during an Instagram Live session in December, when she explained that her throat sometimes swelled internally.

Gomez’s disclosure has highlighted the challenges associated with nicotine dependence and her concerns about the effect vaping has had on her voice.
The singer has previously spoken publicly about several health challenges, including lupus, a kidney transplant in 2017 and her bipolar disorder diagnosis.
Her latest comments also serve as a personal warning to fans who may be considering vaping or struggling to quit nicotine.
