Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk wants his club to sign a new attacker following their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

According to the Netherlands international, Liverpool have lost two attackers, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez this summer, insisting that there’s a need for a new addition of one more forward to the Reds squad.

“Well we just lost Darwin, he went to Saudi [Arabia ] and we lost Lucho, obviously he went to Bayern,” Van Dijk told talkSPORT after Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool in the Community Shield on Sunday evening.

“I think there is always room for an attacker in order to strengthen us so let’s see what the window brings in terms of the balance of the team.”

Recall that both Diaz and Nunez left the Premier League champions to join Bayern Munich and Al-Hilal, respectively this summer.

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer transfer window.

Isak is also keen to join Arne Slot’s side this summer, but they are yet to reach a deal with The Magpies.
