The reason behind Bayern Munich’s decision to not sign forward, Nicholas Jackson from the Premier League side, Chelsea has been revealed.

Bayern Munich have decided against making a move to sign Nicholas Jackson from Chelsea permanently and the reason behind this after opting not to activate the striker’s €50 million purchase clause has been revealed.

The Senegal international will now return to Chelsea with immediate effect after the Bundesliga champions informed the Premier League club that they would not exercise their option to buy.

Although Bayern manager Vincent Kompany was reportedly satisfied with Jackson’s performances and appreciated the striker’s work rate, movement, and ability to fit into his tactical system, the club’s hierarchy ultimately viewed the agreed €50 million fee as excessive.

The decision had reportedly been made several months ago, with Bayern concluding that the financial commitment did not represent sufficient value despite Jackson enjoying a positive spell in Germany.

The move means Chelsea regain control of the 24-year-old’s future ahead of the new season. The Blues must now decide whether to integrate Jackson into their plans, sanction another loan move, or listen to permanent transfer offers from interested clubs.

Jackson’s return comes at a time when Chelsea are expected to continue reshaping their squad, with several players facing uncertain futures as the club evaluates its options before the transfer window closes.

For Bayern, the decision reflects a cautious approach in the transfer market, prioritising value over sentiment despite Kompany’s approval of the player. The German giants are expected to continue their search for attacking reinforcements, while Chelsea will now determine the next chapter in Jackson’s career.

The striker remains under contract at Stamford Bridge, and his situation is likely to attract interest from clubs across Europe if Chelsea decide he is available for transfer. Until then, Jackson returns to west London with his future once again in the hands of the Premier League club.
