A woman identified as Mrs Achue Lovelyn Makia, has d!ed of  postpartum Hamorrhage (PPH) after giving birth to twins at home due to lack of a medical facility in Balegete community, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.

It was gathered that she bled to d3ath while being taken to another community for proper medical attention.

Reacting to the tragic incident on Monday, January 26, Hon. Peter Akpanke. Member, Representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency, Cross River State, said he has reached out to the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Vivian to appeal for the urgent establishment of a more sustainable health care centre in the community.

“My attention has been drawn to a tragic and unfortunate incident that occurred in Balegete Community, Becheve Ward, Obanliku Local Government Area of my constituency,  where Late Mrs Achue Lovelyn Makia d!ed of  postpartum Hamorrhage (PPH) on her way to seek proper medical attention after child birth,” the statement read.

“While we mourn this painful loss, we are consoled with the reality that she left behind a set of twins who are currently in need of urgent care and support.

“As her Rep, I have reached out to the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Vivian Otu to draw her attention to the ugly incident and to appeal for the urgent establishment of a more sustainable health care center in the distant Balegete Community and other underserved communities across our federal constituency to avoid future occurrences.

“For the immediate, I have directed my team led by my Personal Assistant and Legislative Aide to move the surviving babies from Balegete Community to Sacred Heart Hospital Obudu for proper medical attention. I have also approved a financial support of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) to be handed to the family to assist in fixing their immediate needs.

“May the soul of Achue Lovelyn Makia, and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in perfect peace.”
