A woman has shared what she experienced as a female Corps member that radicalised her.

Chinenye Nweke narrated how she observed male Corps members fraternizing with female students to the point of letting them visit their rooms.

She shared her experience in reaction to the male Ghanaian teacher asking for self control allowance for not s£xually abusing female students.

Nweke said her experience with male corps members and their female students changed her idea of men

She wrote:

“I watched a video of a male Ghanaian teacher asking the government to pay them “self control allowance” for not s£xually abusing the female students because they found the girls sexually appealing. Unprovoked. A teacher just s£xualising the children in his care.

“When I was a corper teaching Government in a secondary school in Afaha Obong, Akwa Ibom, I didn’t get along with almost all the male corpers in our lodge. For a lot of reasons anyway but one of them was that they constantly fraternised with the female students in a way I thought was inappropriate.

“Many of them didn’t like me because they felt I was doing too much and I didn’t like them because I thought they were wild animals.

“It came to a head one Sunday afternoon. I’m rarely around on the weekends, preferring to go to Uyo to spend time with my friends there. This Sunday though I was in the lodge and for some reason looked out of the window and saw girls I knew were our students going to the building that was inhabited solely by the male corpers. I waited a few minutes and went over there, knocked on the door of the first room and walked in.

“Girls were laying on the bed with the male corpers.

“I saw red and started shouting at them to leave there immediately. I was so mad I went outside, uprooted a plant to use as came and started swiping. That got everyone moving immediately.

“After the girls left, I turned to my colleagues and warned them. Told them if I caught any student in their room again, I was going to report them at the federal secretariat. Based on my past behaviour, they knew I wasn’t joking.

“My colleagues were upset at me, the school girls kept insulting me and making snide comments in their language anytime they ran into me at school but until I left there, students stopped visiting our lodge.

“One of the most radicalising things that ever happened to me was accepting that girls are surrounded by male predators who do not care about anything apart from their animalistic s£xual urge.

“Let me tell you, that shit changed me.”
