Former Scotland striker, Ally McCoist, has ranked England as the third-best team at the 2026 World Cup.
McCoist spoke on The Rest is Football ahead of England’s World Cup semi-final clash with Argentina on Wednesday.
According to him, the Three Lions are behind France, who are the best team at the World Cup, adding that Thomas Tuchel’s side is better than Argentina.
“At this moment in time, England are the third-best team left in the tournament,” McCoist said.
“But the good news is you are playing a team that I think you are better than. I think England are better than Argentina.
“France looks like the best team in the tournament, but concentrate on the semi-final.
“Defensively, Argentina aren’t great but going forward, we know Messi is capable of doing something out of nowhere, and that is the thing you have to guard against. But what a game we have got to look forward to there,” he added.
