World Cup 2026: Obuh Condemns Tunisia’s Decision To Sack Lamouchi

Former Flying Eagles head John Obuh has criticised the Tunisian Football Federation for sacking Carthage Eagles head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

Lamouchi was fired on Monday by the Football Federation following the Carthage Eagles’ 5-1 loss to Sweden in their opening fixture of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026.

The 57-year-old managed the former African champions for just four games, with the team recording one draw, and three defeats.

He has been replaced by former Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire head coach Hervé Renard.

Obuh insisted that dismissing a coach in the middle of a tournament was the wrong decision.

“I’m not an advocate of making changes in the middle of a tournament, it does not make any sense,” the 66-year-old said in an interview with Footy Africa.

“But such a thing is already pre-planned. If you see any country behave like their federation did, they had a doubt earlier on before they gave him the mantle to lead the team.”

Tunisia will face Japan in their next World Cup game on Sunday.
