At least ten African football stars lit up the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Recall that the World Cup was concluded on Sunday as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 to win the trophy.

However, FIFA has now highlighted the players who helped Africa shine at the World Cup.

In a post via its website, FIFA listed the likes of Cape Verde’s Vozinha, Ivory Coast’s Yan Diomande, DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa and Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr as the players who helped Africa sparkle at the tournament.

Here are the ten African players who shone at the World Cup, according to FIFA:

Vozinha (Cape Verde) – He pulled off a series of exceptional saves and denied the eventual world champions, Spain, a win.

Yan Diomande (Ivory Coast) – The RB Leipzig winger tormented defenders throughout the tournament with his explosive pace.

Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast) – The Manchester United star inspired the Elephants into the Round of 16.

Azzedine Ounahi (Morocco) – His brace against Canada in the Round of 16 proved decisive, sending Morocco into the quarter-finals.

Ismael Saibari (Morocco) – The Bayern Munich forward enjoyed a sensational start to the World Cup, becoming the first CAF player to score in each of his three group-stage matches.

Ismaila Sarr (Senegal) – He scored four times in four games, ending the 2026 World Cup as Africa’s top scorer.

Pape Gueye (Senegal) – The Villarreal man struck a fine brace against Iraq and was deservedly named the Superior Player of the Match, helping Senegal to finish as one of the third-place best teams.

Mostafa Shobeir (Egypt) – The goalkeeper recorded several impressive saves, notably saving a Lionel Messi penalty in the Round of 16 against Argentina.

Yoane Wissa (Congo DR) – He fired his team into the knockout phase for the first time with a superb brace against Uzbekistan.

Ibrahim Maza (Algeria) – The Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder was the group stage’s standout dribbler, completing 12 and finishing the tournament with 14 overall, among the highest totals at the tournament.
